Festival of the Wichitas, Park-O-Treat, and citywide trick-or-treating. Your 2026 Halloween event calendar for Lawton, Cache, and Fort Sill. From the Festival of the Wichitas in Cache to Park-O-Treat at Elmer Thomas Park and citywide trick-or-treating on Halloween night, October is one of the busiest months on the Southwest Oklahoma event calendar. Here is everything you need to plan a fun, low-stress Halloween season with the 2026 dates, locations, and event details.

Status update (October 26, 2026): The Festival of the Wichitas (October 3) and Park-O-Treat (October 10) have wrapped for 2026. Citywide trick-or-treating is confirmed for Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. inside Lawton city limits, so the details below focus on what is still ahead this Halloween week.

What Is the Festival of the Wichitas?

The Festival of the Wichitas was held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, starting at noon at the Sonrise Campus of Adult & Teen Challenge of Oklahoma, 19792 NW Cache Rd, in Cache. Admission is free and the festival is family-friendly, with carnival rides and a Ferris wheel, more than 100 craft and food vendors, food trucks, live music, face painting, hayrides, family games, and a fireworks finale to close out the day.

Cache sits roughly 15 minutes west of Lawton at the base of the Wichita Mountains, and the festival draws visitors from across the region every year. If you are new to the area, our Cache community guide covers the town's schools, restaurants, and drive times so you know what to expect before you go.

What Is Park-O-Treat in Lawton?

Lawton's biggest kid-focused Halloween festival, Park-O-Treat, held its seventh annual event on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Elmer Thomas Park, 501 NW Ferris Ave. The event is free. Trick-or-treating ran along decorated park paths where local businesses and organizations handed out candy, with a live DJ, bounce houses, and costume and scream contests near the Patriot Pavilion. Local news coverage and community calendars confirmed October 10 for the 7th annual event, which kicked off Lawton's trunk-or-treat season.

Families who want to make a full afternoon of it can pair the event with a walk or a picnic. Our guide to Elmer Thomas Park and Lake Lawtonka covers the walking trails, playgrounds, and lake access steps from the festival grounds.

When Is Trick-or-Treating in Lawton?

The City of Lawton has confirmed official trick-or-treating hours on Halloween night, and in 2026 that falls on Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. within city limits. Most neighborhoods take part, and many families map their route ahead so younger kids can start early and finish before full dark. City-sponsored activities are typically announced in September, so check the City of Lawton calendar as the date gets closer.

New to the area and still learning your way around? The Lawton community guide is a practical starting point for neighborhoods, parks, and everyday services. Families in Elgin, Cache, and Medicine Park follow their own local schedules, which are usually posted by each town in the weeks before Halloween.

What Trunk-or-Treat Events Are Near Lawton?

Beyond the two big events, the weeks before Halloween fill up with trunk-or-treat events and fall carnivals across the region. Family Promise of Southwest Oklahoma hosts a Trunk or Treat on Halloween night, October 31 at 6 p.m. at 4330 NW Cache Rd in Lawton. Fort Sill and the USO typically put on their own fall festival for military families, and many churches, schools, and community groups in Lawton, Elgin, Cache, and Medicine Park announce trunk-or-treat dates a few weeks out.

We list these smaller events as they are announced on our weekly Things To Do in Lawton Oklahoma roundup, which we update throughout the season so you do not have to hunt for dates across dozens of social pages.

How Do I Plan a Smooth Halloween in Lawton?

Confirm details before you go. Dates and times are set by the event hosts, so check the organizer's website or social pages for last-minute changes, especially with weather.

Plan your parking. The Festival of the Wichitas and Park-O-Treat both draw large crowds. Arriving early means shorter lines and an easier spot near the event.

Dress for the evening. Late-October nights in Lawton are typically mild but cool, so layers and comfortable walking shoes make the whole evening more pleasant, whether you are on a festival grounds or a neighborhood sidewalk.

Keep the season going. Halloween is just the middle of autumn in Southwest Oklahoma. Our full fall activities guide covers pumpkin patches, autumn hikes at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, and the seasonal events that run through November.

Lawton, Cache, and the surrounding communities know how to celebrate the season, and nearly all of these events are free or low cost. Whether you have lived here for years or are settling in ahead of a Fort Sill assignment, add these October dates to the calendar and enjoy the season with your neighbors.
